Who Are We?
Nikkis Tourism & Commercial Services Pty. Ltd is a local Goa based company owned and operated by Ashok and Muriel Doshi. It all began 22 years ago, in 1985 when Ashok married Muriel (a Goan) and visited Goa for the first time in 1986 and fell in love with this beautiful beach paradise on the West Coast of India. A bike rider by nature, Ashok explored every nook and corner of Goa, all winding roads leading to the beach with swaying palms, the green paddy fields in the monsoons, and the off-beaten tracks in the surrounding hills. As both of us were settled in the UAE, all our vacations with the kids were spent in Goa where it was so natural to just unwind, relax, and be one with nature and just chill out!
It was a foregone conclusion that when we decided to move back to India, we would settle in Goa. This happened 8 years ago, when returning home we decided to set up a business, but what? Goa in 1999, was bustling with tourists, mostly Europeans. Being a financial consultant, Ashok conducted a feasibility study to find out that there was not a single "one window shop" where any tourist can go and get all his requirements met. This prompted us to start our first venture "Nikkis Travel Services" where we offered the first tourist information centre in Goa, along with a large internet cafe, travel & tour reservations, a mini market along with a pool table & a lounge bar, car & bike hire facilities.
Few years down the road, we realized that our customers needed more from us. We had to start a proper holiday business offering an honest, reliable service to meet the rising demands of the global traveller who besides local information needed a friend, a guide, a local person who would offer assistance without any bias.
By then, we had our ideal customer in mind. We knew what it takes to create an enlightening and memorable vacation. LOCAL KNOWLEDGE AND GUIDANCE TO ALL! We wanted to offer visitors to this tiny tropical Indian state something different - the opportunity to experience 'our' Goa, the one that exists outside the hotels and resorts. Slow, harmonious, relaxed and rejuvenating. Life worlds' away from the one they left at home!
What we offer
By then, globalisation had set in. The world of internet was indeed making the whole world small, intimate and close. We were constantly giving advice and guidance to a lot of people in real estate, business and financial planning, medical and Ayurvedic treatments. We had to regroup, review and re-emerge with a larger company Nikkis Tourism & Commercial Services, which now embodies a lot of our activities.
We had several of our own websites online. Nikkistravel.com, amchegoa.com & goa-health-travel.co.in. We however realized that we needed a larger global brand ambassador for us, who was innovative, resourceful and had the synergy and attitude to customers as we had. It was just the right time, when an emerging technology partner Worldhotel-link.com approached us. WHL needed a local operator who knew the country and its territory intimately and Nikkis needed a technology and brand ambassador who could assist them to market to international customers.
